Just a reminder

I have acutally been really good this week about not obsessing over things that I have no control over and things that I can't change. But, it would feel so good to buy a box and send them out...to a wide variety of people.

The List- Part Two

So, I woke up this morning and realized that I may not be as responsible as I claim to be. I have a great career, I'm persuing a fantastic degree ( which is costing me loads), I have good friends blah blah blah. Know what I don't have? I lot of money in my savings account. I'm talking like an account I have easy access to. I've got IRA's, 403(b)'s and other retirement accounts. Awesome. I'm set when I'm 60. But what about NOW?!?!

I'm totally a live for the day girl, I may not wake up tomorow so I should enjoy the present. I'm tenured in my job, so I'm not going to get fired, i've got fantastic job security so there is no risk of my school system self imploding and me being out of a job. But why this urge to feel that I need to have thousands of dollars saved away. My generation is horrible with money, myself included. I don't come from money--at all. I'm 100% middle class. The class that struggles. I do ok, but, I am feelin this recession!!

The funny thing is, none of my friends have savings accounts. The ones that do had parents who set them up for them at age 4 and contributed to it all their life. Yeah, mine didn't do that.

So, next on my list: SAVE MORE MONEY!!!!! I can do it. I know I can. Wow, I feel much better having said all that. sort of

Oh Thank God its Friday

This has been quite the whirlwind week; however, it feels as if its drug on forever! I said a lot of things I needed to say to a lot of people that needed to hear it. Said some apologies, and poured my heart out to another. We'll see what happens. All is on the backburner until I head to NC; after that its sink or swim. I'm hoping for swimming. Emotional catharisis is exhausting!!

Cable

So I finally succombed to the cable gods and had digital cable installed today. I am in heaven. It's almost emabarassing how much happiness I derive from this fact. I have been without cable for a few months; I wanted to see if I could live without it. It turns out that I cannot. So today, my lovely cable guy came and installed it. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. It's glorious! Yet, I have spent much of the day listening to the Showtunes music channel... oh Anthony and K. Shields, why must you be away! I dance alone..... and its amazing!

Mmm

When you decide that you want something; really want something, shouldn't you just suck it up and do what it takes to get that thing? Even it it scares you, even if it will complicate your life, even if you aren't sure you'll acutally get what it is you want? Shouldn't you try? I should try.

It's a Glorious Day in Our Nation's Capital!!!!

Sunday's are my favorite day! Today is my favorite Sunday! After a night wrought with insomnia ( thank god for the internet; there is always something on) I woke up thinking today would be just a normal Sunday filled with catching up on reading, taking a nap, perhaps a run. The usual. Instead, Laura, who's job is filled with awesome perks that I sometimes get to partake in, called and offered me a free ticket to tonight's show! So the 4 men pictured above and I have a date tonight! CAN'T WAIT!!!! Happy Sunday to me!

Oh, Friday

Today started out to be quite a good day, and then it ended horribly. Around noon I got an assignment from my boss that I was under the impression was my secretary's responsibility. Apparently, it is not. So, I now have pages upon pages of pre and post-tests to enter and run data analysis on. NOT AWESOME. On the way home, I decided to avoid HappyHour (and I never turn down a good HappyHour) to go to Target. I needed some things and it seemed as good a time as any to go. Note to self, do not go to Target at 7pm on a Friday evening. Screaming children everywhere, on of which was a 12 year old who rammed me with his cart! I think I'm free until I get home and realize that I left one of my bags at the register. Of course, it was the bag that I needed most. So according to "Mr. Super Not Helpful" I have to go back tomorrow with my reciept and chill with a security guard to make sure that I'm telling the truth, and then I can go get my stuff. FAIL Target. Big Fail.
